Where's the Potholes on County Line Road

Every morning, I gather myself to prepare for my commute headed towards Bakersfield. I got my coffee in the mug and in a 35 minutes drive, I am at work. Before I can get to work, I had a chance to play a game of where's the potholes on County Line Road. After the rain had poured cleaning up the streets, the potholes seems to worsen. Then, I thought to myself that maybe the road is a neglected road since I figure half belongs to Delano and the other half belongs to Tulare. Our city patches what i… Continue

Sonic might be coming to town...

SONIC MIGHT BE COMING TO TOWN!

Not this Sonic... But this SONIC!

The reason I'm saying might be is, it is unpredictable what is coming in our city and I won't believe it 'til I actually get my first order from it. Who knows, we'll probably end up a lawsuit against the new place from

Los Angeles Times / January 3, 2009

DELANO, Calif.- Beside a field of tumbleweed in this remote Central Valley town, California opened its newest prison in 2005 with a modern design, innovative security features, and a big environmental problem. Discuss Drinking water from two wells at Kern Valley State Prison contained arsenic, a known cause of cancer, in amounts far higher than a federal safety standard soon to take effect. Yet, nearly three years after missing the government's deadline to reduce the arsenic levels, the state ha… Continue

Del ANO by Robert Shoaf

I was reflecting on some of the notes written about me in my Del Ano yearbook. It made me think: We were so quick to get out of that town, some of us. The rest either couldn't or wouldn't. Our ties were to our dreams. Some dreamt huge and are living it, others had dreams, but couldn't figure out what they meant. It was the latter that chased with a fervent vigor that have realized what comes when the potential is tapped. Mr. Martin taught us the difference between potential and kinetic energy.… Continue
