DHS - MAKE THE GRADE
DELANO, Calif. -- More Delano high school students are passing the exit exam thanks to a program called CALLI.
The Content Academic Language Literacy Instruction program is aimed at teaching math and science high school teachers how to better instruct their students so more of them can pass the California High School Exit Exam.
For the past three years Delano high school teachers have been working with Cal State Bakersfield professors to complete this mission.
Teachers take what they’ve learned and use it in the classroom.
Teachers said they saw more than a 20 percent increase in both math and science the first year after the program started.
Teachers said this instruction is also helping students in other subjects.
The program will end this year, but teachers said they will gather one more time in January to analyze the new numbers.
