What is your 2009 Wish List for our City of Delano?

We have Christmas coming up and for sure we told our family and friends what we want on our Christmas wish list. To some of us, we won't be getting what we want but happy enough to spend Christmas with family and friends.

Here is the question for 2009? What is your 2009 Wish List for Delano, California?

For me....

1. The new WALMART is on top of that list....

My Wish List:
I agree with many of the previous comments:
1. More upscale restaurants (Red Lobster, Mimi's Cafe, Olive Garden...etc.)
2. Walmart or Target (personally enjoy Target)
3. Tougher punishment for littering...so many people drop trash around this town.
4. NO GANG Tolerance.....I agree with arian's comment. If we want to take back this city..we have to stand up to neighborhood drug dealers, vandals, and thieves... I love the idea of the 721-Narc thing.
5. Delano is growing, but there are not enough business to support this growing community.
6. We are on the verge of a huge change...at this point Delano could either become a huge ghetto city with a lot of crime problems...or Delano could become a huge modernized area of commerce.
7. I would love for Delano to become a clean, safe, shady, and green economic mecha.

=Growth! Delano is growing and it should stay that way. There is no need to travel 30 minutes south or north of 99 just to go to Walmart or the mall! We need our owm. We work hard for our money and it should stay in the city. Don't let "Bakersfield" be the norm for Delanoans! Or is it too late? And for people against this...hmm you're mostly likely retired or getting ready to, i hear Ft. Lauderdale is still nice so is Olympia, WA. =)

=ZERO TOLERANCE on gang violence! How else can you improve this? Delano is still a small city and we all know who is who around Delano. Set up a number like a 721-NARC or 721-TELL for people to report anything illegal going on in the city. Gangs in any city will be hard to shutdown but ZERO TOLERANCE will hopefully discourage these delinquents to burglarize or terrorize Delanoans! They are nothing but bored pests looking for something to do in the city.

I haven't lived in Delano for almost 10 years now and i miss it, i do however try to visit every year! Anyway, this is what i hope for in Delano in 2009!

Nawez, that won't work to start thinking what we have. What we is less revenue, less employment, but more outgoing expense. It is simple economics. Grant it that we have resources avail to us for quite some times now but a new development would not hurt the city. We are behind the times and I'm tired of spending my hard earned dollars to other cities when I can spend it locally. I'm not looking how other cities look like, a target, walmart, who knows, a good steak house, a theater would be a great start. Starbucks opened up and they are doing very well. Saves me the trip getting my latte...

Mikal, we should get some latte... When you buyin'?

Lets see my wish list for delano. If i started tyoing it all out I think I would be here all night. anyways

I think my biggest wish list for delano is that people stop thinking about they don't got and think about what they do have. Because I feel that if people think about what they do have and pull resources together and more relationships with eachother then things can turn around. it may not be the greatest but a sign of change can lead others to get involved which could lead to more help and resources because i know there are resources out there who just need some glimmer of hope and some results and they will gladly jump in.

KRISSY: TO GET RID OF METH AND GANGS

JANNIE: I am a Program Director for the Boys & Girls Club at Almond Tree Middle School. We currently serve kids from Almond Tree Middle School, Cecil Avenue Middle School, and Terrace Elementary. So I would like to have a YOUTH FACILITY that can serve students from all schools in this town. A Facility that can have its own gym, arts & crafts room, computer lab, cafeteria (used for snacks, events), restrooms, and a performing arts room. That would be nice!!
